Description
Use this Galilean Moon Callisto Globe™ to explore the third largest moon in the solar system. It is heavily cratered indicating an age of about 4 billion years. The color imagery from the Galileo satellite was combined with the imagery from Voyager 1 and 2 to create the spectacular image mosaic in striking detail. The ancient landforms are primarily craters and ice which may cover liquid water at extreme depths. The imagery of Callisto includes the latest nomenclature and physiographic labels.
FYI: Jupiter’s moons are referred to as the Galilean moons, rather than Jovian, in honor of Galileo writing of his discovery.
